
Fighting for equality Alaska P. Davidson was the first female to prove that a women could be just as effectual on a special investigations force than any man.
On this day in history, October 11, 1922, the First woman FBI “special investigator” Alaska Davidson is appointed. Davidson was trained in New York City and later assigned to the Washington, D.C. field office. Her starting salary was $7 a day plus $4 when traveling, which adds up to around 2,000 to 3,000 dollars a year. Today the lowest paid FBI agent makes as low as $46,229 a year, and the highest paid agent makes as high as $130,810 a year. A lot has changed since 1922, especially in the field of FBI special Investigations.
